The Panzer Assault Badge by Steinhauer & Lück
|
|
Notes to remember: Materials used: Butmetall, Zinc. This badge was made by the Steinhauer & Lück Company. The company made PABs in hollow and solid (scooped) versions. The early hollow badges were made from Buntmetall and are eagerly sought by collectors. S&L badges can be found with many hardware variants. One of them is very close to hardware used by Juncker. This was the main reason why many people mistakenly connected them to the Juncker Company. However, strong evidence (from other combat badges) is now connecting them to the Steinhauer & Lück Company (please check for the detailed explanation in Frank Heukemes book). One of the strangest versions of S&L made PABs is the so called "Monster" PAB. This nickname came from its weight, which at 40g it is by far the heaviest PAB on the block (pictures at the bottom of this page). Rarity scale: hollow version in buntmetall 7.5/10; Silver or bronze grade in zinc 5/10; silver in zinc with so called "Juncker setup" 6/10; "Monster" version 7.5/10 Fake Alert: new fake in semi hollow (scooped) version on the market!
